At Sunstone Massage Wellness & Yoga we believe massage therapy, yoga and meditation are key components to a balanced approach to staying healthy. Our experienced, skilled and dedicated staff combine Massage techniques to customize each session This is important because it allows us to evolve with your needs from one treatment to another. Our Yoga Program offers the unique opportunity to learn and explore yoga in a small class of eight or fewer. This small group instruction allows for a safe and individualized in setting. We are also proud to offer workshops and meditation instruction.
Michele Hughes – Founder, Massage Therapist, and Yoga Teacher
Michele began her massage therapy training at the Ariel Institute of Newtown,PA in 1989. She entered the Massage therapy field on a full time basis in 2002 and opened her Massage practice in the Summer of 2004. She is grateful for her many teachers and continues to take advanced training courses in order to bring a constant fresh approach to her work. She a New Jersey State Licensed Massage Therapist and also holds a 500hr. certification from the Philadelphia School of Massage. An interest in movement, muscles, and the Mind/Body connection led her to explore Massage, Yoga and Meditation. Michele has practiced yoga for over 15 years . She is a Yoga Teacher and a a Yin Yoga Teacher. In addition to teaching a slow therapeutic Yoga class, she also teaches her signature class, Yin Yoga + Massage class. Michele brings a compassionate, yogic approach to her bodywork.
She hopes to bring the community an opportunity to experience the natural benefits of holistic healing arts. She has hundreds of additional training hours in Myofascial Release, Trigger Point, Deep Tissue, Prenatal, Relaxation, Breathwork, Craniosacral Therapy, Positional Release Technique, Pain Management, Thai Yoga Massage, Yin Yoga,Hot & Cool Stone Therapy and Essentials Oils. Michele, along with her husband and children reside in beautiful Cape May County, NJ.
Michelle Barber – Massage Therapist
Michelle is a graduate of the Pennsylvania School Of Muscle Therapy and a PA State licensed massage therapist. She also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Stockton University. An interest in the mind body connection led her to pursue a massage therapy certification. Michelle is a seasoned massage practitioner with over 15 years of experience. She has additional training in Therapeutic, Deep Tissue, Sports Massage, Thai and Prenatal. She has been part of the Massage staff at Sunstone since 2004.
Deidre Bridgeman – Massage Therapist
Deidre has been part of the Sunstone staff since the Spring of 2012. She is a New jersey state licensed therapist. Deirde is a seasoned therapist with years of experience, She is trained in therapeutic, deep tissue, hot stone and prenatal massage.
Jeanne Graves – Massage Therapist
After working for many years as an Office Manager in Canada, Jeanne married and moved to Cape May in 2007. She has always loved massage, so she pursued her passion and graduated from the National Massage Therapy Institute in 2008. Since then she has added several courses to compliment her work, such as certification in Reflexology, Myofascial Release, Healing energy work and healing with Young Living Essential Oils, including Raindrop Technique. Her goal each day is to help her clients attain peace and wellness through the relaxation of massage.
Jennifer Ruth Segar – Energy Healer, Meditation Instructor, and Raindrop Technique Practitioner
She provides energy healing, raindrop therapy treatments and meditation classes. Her goal at Sunstone Massage is to share the gift of energy healing with the community of Avalon. Her education includes the completion of a Three year program at the Inner Source Healing School in Malvern, Pa. She attended the school from 2003 to 2008 and also took her spiritual journey to India in 2006. Jennifer is passionate utilizing energy healing, essential oils and meditation for wholeness and well being. Jennifer and her husband live in Avalon during the summer and have four daughters.
Arlene Vogt, Yoga Instructor
Arlene Vogt began practicing yoga in 2000. In 2001, she was introduced to Sivananda yoga. Having found the style that she is passionate about, she quickly developed a daily practice.
When she realized that she wanted to share her love of yoga with others, she began teacher training. She achieved her first certification in 2006 and received her 500-hour teacher certification, from YogaLife Institute in Wayne, PA. She is registered with the Yoga Alliance as an E-RYT 500.
Arlene encourages her students to challenge themselves without forcing. Always having them focus on the positive, she reminds her students that yoga is about what you can do.
Alexandra Seitz: Yoga Instructor & Hypotherapist: Alexandra Joy Seits is a certified RYT-200 Ashtanga yoga instructor and is a certified hypnotherapist by NGH. Alexandra is currently in her fourth year of graduate school at University of Pennsylvania where she is pursuing her degrees to become a therapist at UPenn’s School of Social Policy and Practice, after studying Nonprofit Administration at UPenn’s Fels School of Government. Alexandra has previously taught on the Main Line where she was certified in Wayne, PA at Yoga with Spirit. Alexandra loves to teach private and group classes during the summer in Avalon at Avalon Surf Camp on the beach, Sunstone Massage & Wellness, and Shore Sports. Alexandra performs aerial arts; she has performed silks, flying and static trapeze, lyra and web in the circus. Alexandra is also an actor trained at NYU Tisch’s Stonestreet Studios and is represented by Plaza 7 Talent. Alexandra practices as a therapist in a dialysis center and worked at UPenn’s disability services during graduate school. Alexandra loves to teach breathwork, self-hypnosis and healing bodywork to supplement her all-level yoga classes.
